The elevation profile between the 1.25 mile and 2.5 mile marks looks like the fangs and teeth of a coyote, and this terrain certainly has the potential to eat you up. Go out too fast in the first mile, and you’ll pay a price later. The hills at Hickory Knolls can be taxing. And while there’s no cold-water creek crossing this time, don’t fool yourself into thinking this one will be an easy jaunt through the park.
